Original Civil War Springfield M1861 Rifle Musket with attic dark brown patina. The walnut stock shows lots of wear from service but otherwise in good condition. Has "D" "90" stamped near the "US" marked buttplate and a very faint outline of its inspectors cartouche. Has a pretty set of initials "CFK" between the trigger guard and the first barrel band. The lock is fully functional and clicks in both positions. Has the "U.S. Springfield" / Eagle in front of the hammer and a faint 1861 production date on the back of the lock. The barrel is full length and has a smooth bore. Has a partial rear sight that is froze in the upright position and the front pinch sight. Has all three of its barrel bands with sling swivels. The Lower and Middle Band have a "U" inspectors stamp but are on the gun in reverse. The original swelled ramrod is in great condition and has its original threads that has been converted to a screwdriver head. A solid example of a Civil War Rifle at an affordable price that was sure to have seen lots of action. A great research project as well. Please see all photos and call or write for payment options.
