Original Civil War Springfield M1861 Rifle Musket that has been cut down to a 2 band Carbine. Has an overall untouched attic brown patina. The lockplate is fully functional with good working action and the hammer clicks in both positions. Has a partial Springfield maker mark in front of the hammer and really nice 1862 production date behind. The walnut stock has an inspectors cartouche and is in good shape with heavy wear from service but no breaks or repairs. The barrel has been modified to 28 1/2". It has a dirty bore with pitting but does have rifling remaining and a small front brass bead sight. Has a U.S. marked buttplate. Also has a very cool blacksmith made ramrod. An affordable early Civil War Weapon with many stories to tell. Please see all photos!
