Original Civil War M1863 Contract Rifle Musket by Samuel Norris and W.T. Clement of Springfield, Massachusetts. They produced approximately 3,000 longarms for the State of Massachusetts in 1863-1864. This example has a beautiful overall smooth dark aged patina. The fully functional lock is clearly marked "S.N. & W.T.C." over "For Massachusetts " , "U.S. / Eagle" and an 1864 production mark. The wood stock is in great shape with usual bumps and bruises and two sets of carved initials. The barrel is full length with the VP over Eagle inspection stamp as well as its 1864 production date at the breech. Comes complete with its original rear long range sight. Also has a very cool original custom blacksmith looking ramrod that matches the gun perfectly. Please see all photos and call with any questions or if I can assist you with your collection in any way.
