HARPERS FERRY M1842 MUSKET CUT DOWN TO CARBINE LENGTH - 1ST ALABAMA CAVALRY
Original Civil War M1842 Musket that has been cut down to a carbine length and has a nice dark patina that displays great. The walnut stock has usual bumps and bruises from service and has been shortened just past the lower barrel band. Has "1st ALA CAV" carved into the left side. Also has some custom checkering on the right side behind the lock. There is also an imprint of the Inspector cartouche still visible. The lockplate is fully functional and clicks in both positions. Has the Harpers Ferry Maker Mark and 1851 production date behind the hammer and and the US/Eagle stamp in front. The buttplate fits the gun well and has a faint "US". The barrel has been shortened to 24 1/2" and has a dirty bore. A great addition to any collection at an affordable price. Purchased in the North Alabama Area. Please see all photos.
