Original Civil War Gwynn & Campbell Type I .52 cal Cavalry Carbine with a nice displaying dark patina. The Gwynn & Campbell was the successor to the Cosmopolitan and made in the same factory. Made by Edward Gwynn and Abner C. Campbell in Hamilton, OH with the total quantity of 4200 Type I and 4000 Type II. This is a solid example with a couple of small repairs but overall nice condition. The action is fully functional. The walnut stock has normal wear from service and a circle carved out on the left side. The original rear and front sight are intact. The barrel is full length with nice rifling remaining. Quite a few Union Cavalry Outfits were armed with these weapons including the 7th Tennessee, 5th & 8th Ohio, 4th & 8th Missouri, 3rd Wisconsin, 2nd & 3rd Iowa, 2nd & 3rd Arkansas, 5th, 6th & 16th Illinois, 2nd, 6th & 14th Kansas, and 10th, 12th & 14th Kentucky. Overall nice example that will make a great addition to any Cavalry Carbine Collection. Please see all photos. I can sharpen the pencil a bit if quick payment with a check. I am not accepting credit cards anymore and sorry for the inconvenience. Please call or write for more info.
