Made by Richardson & Overman, Philadelphia. With the total quantity of more than 23,000. This early Production Model with the serial number of 3314 is in really good condition and has very pleasing overall patina. It's markings on the lockplate read "Gallager/Patented July 17th 1860" and "3314". The Walnut stock is in excellent shape and has an iron patchbox. The .50 caliber full length barrel has a great bore. The loading lever mechanics and action work perfectly. It is missing its original sling bar and mounting ring and on the reverse. Long Range sight is MIA as well. These guns were used extensively by many Cavalry units such as the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6th Ohio, the 13th Tennessee and the 3rd West Virginia.
