Original Civil War Federal Cavalry 1st Lieutenants Frock Coat in beautiful Museum Displaying Condition. The coat is in excellent shape with a beautiful liner. Has a Leopold Morse Co. Boston makers/retailers tag. They are listed on page 193 of the Directory of American Military Dealers 1785-1915 and were stablished in 1852. The collar is one inch and shows wear from service. The sleeves are tailored being 8" wide at the elbow and tapering to the cuff. The skirts measures 19 1/4" in length and are not hemmed. The front of the single breasted frock coat has 9 Eagle C Cavalry Buttons. 8 have Extra Quality Backmarks and one has W.H. Smith. 2) Eagle C Cuff Buttons on each sleeve (Extra Quality, Superior Quality and Waterbury Button Co.). On the back of the Coat are four more Eagle C Cavalry Buttons with Extra Quality Backmarks. Has a pair of stitched on Smith Patent 1st Lieutenant Cavalry Shoulder Boards.
