P56 EP BOND ENFIELD CAVALRY CARBINE WITH JS ANCHOR STAMP
Original Civil War Pattern 1856 Enfield Cavalry Carbine by EP Bond of London. One of a small number from this firm and has the JS Anchor Confederate Inspector stamp. The gun has an overall pleasing patina that displays well. The stock is in great shape with usual bumps and bruises from service. The Lock is fully functional and is marked EP Bond in front of the hammer. Barrel is full length and has it's front pinch sight. British Proofs as shown in the reference photos. The bore is dirty and has no rifling visible. Comes with an original cork Tompion. Both barrel bands are matching and complete. Has an Enfield Ramrod that has been added at some point but displays well. These originally had an attached ramrod that has been removed as with a good many other examples I have seen. The brass buttplate and trigger guard have a beautiful matching patina. The bottom screw has been stripped out and is loose. Some of the threads have corrosion on them. An easy fix if so desired but I am gonna leave it as found with original screw. The firing nipple is worn down to a nub. A Confederate Veteran that was sure to have seen many battles. A great addition to any collection or Museum. Please see all photos.
