Original Civil War Enfield P53 Musket Cut Down to Carbine Length. Has an overall beautiful dark displaying patina. I purchased this gun from Rafael Eledge of Shiloh Relics at the Corinth, MS Civil War Show. The lockplate has the 1861 Tower in front of the hammer and the British crown on the rear of the plate. The mechanics are fully functional with crisp tight action. The walnut stock is in good shape and has been shortened to a 2 band length (37"). Has the original brass forend cap, trigger guard and original modified brass buttplate. The barrel has the correct "25" "25" stamps for .577 cal that we love to see on weapons imported for the US Civil War. The smooth bore barrel is 22" in length and has the original front sight intact. Has an original shortened ramrod with no thread on the end. Has U marked Springfield barrel bands. A great little inexpensive carbine that will display great in any Cavalry Collection and nice fit for the Alabama Cavalry!
