Original Civil War Colt M1851 Hartford .36 cal Navy Revolver with a nice pleasing dark patina and a very desirable serial number of 94946 (1860 production date). Unfortunately the brass trigger guard and the backstrap are serial numbers 103090 but match the gun perfectly and seem to have been together for some time. The State of Alabama purchased a good number of Colt Navies that were handed out by the Governor to Officers and Enlisted men. There is no way of knowing for sure but this gun is very close to known documented examples of Alabama Cavalry guns.  Colt Navy serial number 94814, 94865 & 94981 are marked C. L. Dragoons which became the 3rd Alabama Cavalry. 94886 was an ID'd Alabama Soldiers gun that Damon Mills had documented. 95844 belonged to the A. B. Moore the Governor of Alabama.

The brass hardware parts have a really nice untouched patina.  The wood grips are in good shape with normal wear from use and one small repair on the left toe. The barrel is marked Address SamL Colt Hartford, CT and has a good bore with rifling remaining. Has it's original brass bead sight.  The loading lever moves freely and secures tight. Left side of the frame is marked Colts Patent. The mechanics are fully functional with good action.  The wedge is an unmarked Colt original. A great value for the money and displays strong in any Confederate Collection. Please see all photos.
