Original Civil War Imported Austrian Lorenz M1854 Rifle with 1858 production date. The Union used more than 200,000 of these weapons and the South more than 100,000. This example has a beautiful displaying patina. The wood stock is in good shape with some cracks around the buttstock area and a small chip MIA from around the lockplate. Also has and old repair near the tang of the barrel. Does have some initials and a Confederate flag carved into the right buttstock that are really cool. The mechanics are functional but the hammer only clicks in one position and hammer is a little loose. Barrel is full length and has the pinch front sight. Bore is smooth with no rifling remaining. Both sling swivels are intact but the lower one is frozen in place. Comes with aged reproduction rod. An overall solid example that will make a great addition to any collection at a great price.
