AMES M1860 CAVALRY SWORD AND SCABBARD WITH 1860 DATE
Ames M1860 Cavalry Sword and Scabbard with very desirable and rare pre war 1860 date. The handle is tight to the blade and has a really nice aged patina. The original leather and wire are intact and in mint condition. The pommel has the JH military inspectors initials. The blade is full length with very minimal nicks more felt than seen. Has the US / G.G.S. Inspector Initials / 1860 date on one side of the blade and Ames Mfg Co. / Chicopee Mass on the reverse. The blade was plated at some point. Done very well and most likely repurposed for service after the war. Still has the cross polish near the ricasso. The scabbard has a beautiful dark patina. Complete with the original throat and both mounting rings. Has some really cool service wear to the drag. Couple small dents otherwise perfect. This rare example is in great condition and will make a fine addition to any Museum or Collection. Please see all photos.
