AMES M1860 CAVALRY SWORD AND SCABBARD WITH 1859 DATE
Original Civil War Ames M1860 Cavalry Sword and Scabbard with the very desirable 1859 Production Date. The Brass handle has a beautiful aged patina, original leather wrap and wire. The matching pommel is undisturbed and I believe has inspector initials under the thick patina. The blade is full length with a perfect tip. There are a few flea bite size nicks more felt than seen. Has the Ames Maker Mark on one side of the blade the and the US, inspector initials and 1859 date on the reverse. The original sword knot is in great shape with most of its tassels intact. Does have a repair as shown in photos. The scabbard fits the sword tight and also has a beautiful aged patina. The drag and mounting rings show wear from service. Also has one of its leather sword mounts to complete the display. Please see all photos.
