Very rare Original Ames M1860 Cavalry Sword and Scabbard with 1858 production Date The brass guard and pommel have a beautiful aged matching patina. The pommel has the inspector initials of J.H. for Joseph Hannah. The leather wrap has been worn down to the wood from service with just traces of leather remaining and one strand of wire. The blade is full length with a nice point. Has just a few flea bite nicks. Looks to have been partially cleaned at some point. Has the Ames Maker Mark on one side of the blade and the US / Inspector Initials / 1858 date on the reverse. The scabbard is in great condition with a beautiful aged attic dark patina. Has the throat and both mounting rings. A great example of a rare sword priced much better than market value. Please see all photos. Check is only form of payment currently accepted.
