Original Civil War Ames M1860 Cavalry Sword and Scabbard in really nice condition. The brass guard and undisturbed pommel have a beautiful aged patina. Has the original leather wrap and wire with obvious wear from service but still intact. The blade is full length with a nice point and has never been sharpened. There a just a few small flea bit nicks more felt than seen and has a slight curve at the very tip. Has a really nice Ames Maker Mark on one side of the blade and U.S. / 1863 / Inspectors initials on the reverse. The pommel has a light inspector (ADK) stamp as well. The scabbard is in great condition with a beautiful aged dark patina. Has the original throat and both mounting rings. Has a very tight fit to the blade. Could use a little oil at some point. Has a few small dents as shown in the pics. Overall first class example that was actually used in service and with desirable mid war date was sure to have seen many battles. Please see all photos for condition. Call or write for more information.
