Original Civil War Ames M1840 Mounted Artillery Sword and Scabbard with very desirable 1862 production date. This example was a war trophy in a Veterans Reunion Hall. The brass handle and pommel are tight to the blade and have a nice aged patina with traces of gold paint. The wrap and wire are original and still intact. The blade is full length with very minimal nicks from service more felt than with a dulled point as shown in the pics. Has the Ames scroll maker mark on one side and the 1862 date on the reverse. The Scabbard is complete with the throat and both mounting rings. Has been painted gold for display at the Reunion Hall. Has a really nice look to it with a beautiful patina! An overall great early example that will make a great addition to any Museum or Collection. Please see all photos.
