Original Civil War M1861 Rifle Musket with very desirable 1861 date and has been cut down to a carbine length. Inexpensive nice displaying weapon that will make a great addition to any collection and not break the bank. The stock is in good shape with normal wear from service and a few age cracks as shown in the pics. The mechanics are fully functional with nice action and the hammer clicks in both positions. The firing nipple is worn down to a nub. The lockplate is marked with Springfield and an Eagle in front of the hammer and 1861 production date on the rear, Has the U.S. marked buttplate and the VP Eagle Inspector marks on the 14 1/4" barrel.
