RICHMOND ARMORY CONFEDERATE CARBINE WITH LEATHER SLING
Original Civil War Richmond Armory Confederate .58 Cal Carbine made from captured parts. Originally purchased by Confederate Firearms Expert Michael D. Kramer, this is an awesome example of the Confederate Cause using what they had available to supply the troops. I have included several pages from the C.S Richmond Armory Book by Paul Davies showing these guns and how they were made. The gun has an overall beautiful pleasing patina. It has a Springfield M1861 Lockplate with the 1861 date. The Lock is fully functional and clicks in both positions. The stock is in great shape with small bumps and bruises from service. Has an Inspector cartouche on left side opposite of the Lock. There is a small repair on the back sling swivel as shown in the photos. The barrel is 25" total length and has its rifling remaining. Has the M1861 Rear sight and the Richmond style Pinched front sight. The iron buttplate has no "US" stamp. Also comes with an original Civil War Period Leather Sling in really nice condition that gives the gun a museum quality look to it. Please see all photos and call if I can assist you in any way.
